Born in Bengal in 1942, he graduated from the School of Art, Delhi Polytechnic, in 1963. He has had many solo shows and won second prize at the All India Fine Art Seminar, Ambala, in 1962; the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society Award in 1969 and 1982; and the Sahitya Kala Parishad in 1981,1982 and 1989. His works take a route toward the discovery of harmony between man and nature.
